Return your computer to its previous settings
We’ve all wished we could go back in time, if for no other reason than to uninstall a program that corrupted a once-reliable computer. Sometimes even when you uninstall the troublesome program, the problems continue.
Now you can return your computer to the state it was in before any problems started, using System Restore.
With System Restore, you can:
- Undo changes to hardware, software, or settings on your computer to get back its great performance.
- Avoid the frustration of having to go through a lengthy computer-support call.
- Create restore points to record settings as they were before you make changes that are risky or might make your computer unstable. This allows you to roll back to a more stable state or time, by choosing a restore point on a date prior to when a change occurred.
- Restore your system without losing your personal files. Items such as documents, e-mail messages, and browsing history are saved when you roll back with System Restore.
- Undo a restore or select another restore point if you do not like the state of your computer after restoring it.
